Eligibility Requirements

Amount $2,000-$5,000


Recipients of the DMV Young Professionals Scholarship Fund must meet the following eligibility requirements:


● Currently a high school senior with confirmed acceptance and enrollment in a two-year or four-year accredited college or university; or college sophomore to 2nd semester junior currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year accredited college or university.


● Must be a resident of District of Columbia (DC), Maryland, or Virginia (not further than Richmond, VA). 


● Must have a minimum cumulative 2.85 GPA on a 4.0 scale.


2022 Selection Process and Timeline 


Phase 1: The application opens Monday, January 17, 2022 and closes on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. ET. The completed application must be submitted online. 


Phase 2: Select applicants will advance to the semi-finalist round. An email notification will be sent to all semi-finalists by Monday, June 6, 2022. Semi-finalists will be required to complete a virtual interview. 


Phase 3: Final candidate(s) will be selected and notified by Monday, June 13, 2022. The scholarship award will be sent directly to the student’s institution. 


Deadlines: Applications are due on May 16, 2022, by 5:00 p.m. ET. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. 


Please carefully read and respond to each question and ensure required documents are included in your final submission. 

Required Documents

  • Complete application form


  • Upload essay (500 words minimum) - responding to the following essay prompt: Knowing the statement, “You don’t have to go to college to be successful,” why are you choosing to attend or pursue a college degree?


  • Upload three (3) letters of recommendation. 


  • Letter One - From a community organization or public service leader (i.e. church, community leader, or volunteer organization. 


  • Letter Two - From a mentor (non-relative) who can speak to your character and career ambitions. 


  • Letter Three - From a current or former teacher/professor


  • Note: All letters of recommendations must be provided in PDF format and on official letterhead. Please ensure all letters include a signature.


  • Upload a one page resume listing extracurricular activities, honors, employment history, community service, and special skills/awards.


  • Upload a two to three minute video detailing how you will benefit from the scholarship award and what education costs will be covered if you receive the award.


  • Upload a high school transcript (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
